India is entering a new era of military strength. Through modern defence deals, advanced technology, and the 'Make in India' initiative, the country is becoming one of the world's fastest-growing defence manufacturers.
The numbers tell the story. India's defence production reached a record ₹1.78 lakh crore in FY 2025–26, nearly four times higher than the ₹46,429 crore recorded in 2014–15. Defence exports also touched an all-time high of ₹38,424 crore in FY 2025–26, a remarkable 62.7% increase over the previous year. Indian defence equipment is now being exported to dozens of countries, strengthening India's global position.
India is also investing heavily in modernising its Armed Forces. The 2026–27 defence budget stands at nearly ₹7.85 lakh crore, with around ₹2.19 lakh crore allocated for capital expenditure, allowing the armed forces to acquire next-generation fighter aircraft, drones, missile systems, warships, submarines, and advanced surveillance technologies.
The Indian Navy continues to induct indigenous warships with more than 80% local content, while programmes such as BrahMos missile exports, Tejas fighter aircraft, and indigenous engine development highlight India's growing technological capabilities.
These developments are creating thousands of skilled jobs, encouraging private-sector participation, and reducing dependence on foreign suppliers. More importantly, they are making India's armed forces stronger, smarter, and better prepared for future challenges.
India's defence journey is no longer just about buying weapons—it's about building them, exporting them, and emerging as a trusted global defence partner.
